Presentation of M. Gon's book “Rowne: the outlines of the missing town”

The well-known Rivne historian, Doctor of Political Science, Head of the Department of Political Science of Rivne State Humanitarian University Maksym Gon has presented to the Rivne community his new book “Rowne: the outlines of the missing town”, which has just been printed in publishing house “Volynski oberehy” in Rivne.

The book is the result of the study of the Jewish community of Rivne in the interwar period of 1921-1939. This is the first book on the history of the Jewish community of Rivne in the interwar period. It was published by NGO “Mnemonics” within the framework of the project “Palimpsests of memory” with the support of Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung in Ukraine.

The book covers the life of one of the national communities, which in the decades between the two world wars made up the majority of the population of Rivne. The author described the participation of Jews in social and political life, the city economy, the activities of public organizations, and reflected some aspects of inter-ethnic relations.
