Installation of stumbling stones in Rivne

Today in Rivne, NGO “Mnemonics” has launched a new European practice of commemorating the victims of Nazism – stumbling stones.

Rivne became the second city in Ukraine after Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi, in which these memorial signs have been installed.

We have installed 5 stumbling blocks. They are dedicated to five innocent victims who were killed for who they were, for what they did, or refused to do.
Polish poet Zuzanna Ginczanka and the Jewish family of Jacob and Rachel Krulyk were murdered by their Nazis for their Jewish origin.

A Ukrainian, the Righteous among the Nations, Yakiv Sukhenko, was killed for helping the Jews during the Holocaust.

The Orthodox priest, Volodymyr Mysechko was executed because he refused to persuade people to go to work to the Reich.

Anyone, no matter what language a person spoke or what temple went to, could be the victim of the Nazis regime. However, the Jewish people were the least likely to survive. They were killed not for specific actions, but because of whom they were born.
